SCROLL
THE CONTEXT

A pioneer in pro-aging hair care, and by 2025 surrounded. By experts, doctors, multinationals and Hollywood names selling the same promise.

The brand already owned the best name in the category. It had never once used it.

THE CAMPAIGN AS IT RUNS TODAY · HER WORDS, HER HANDWRITING
THE CHALLENGE

Six plays, run identically by everyone. Nobody memorable at the shelf.

We audited the field and found every player running the same six: reviews, paid ads, before and afters, press, influencers, the founder's story. Nobody was distinguishable at a glance, which meant nobody was memorable where it counts.

Worse, the brand's longest running campaign cast hair as a woman's oldest friend, the relationship of a lifetime. Elegant, well made, and quietly melancholic. It was a campaign about loss.

THE INSIGHT
Hair is not the protagonist. Hair is the antagonist. The product is the hero.
At fifty a woman's feeling about herself is not declining. It is the most positive it has ever been. Her hair is the one thing holding it back. That single inversion changes what the brand is allowed to say: a brand whose hero is hair can only mourn what is going, and a brand whose hero is the product can promise what is coming.

THE STRATEGY

The strategic asset was sitting in the trademark.

Better Not Younger carries a positive term and a refusal in four words. Emphasising better over younger shifts the whole proposition off reversing time and onto optimising the present.

It also reinforces the one thing the audience already believes about themselves: that confidence, beauty and vitality are not left behind with age but amplified by it.

By framing this moment, not the past, as the ideal state.
It frees women from nostalgia and regret and places them firmly in their best, most powerful era yet.
THE ARCHITECTURE

So we rebuilt the range so the products say it too.

Every name resolves in the same two letters as the brand line. A shopper does not have to be taught the strategy. She reads it five times crossing a shelf.

FIVE PRODUCTS. ONE SUFFIX. THE SHELF STATES THE BRAND PROMISE FIVE TIMES BEFORE A WORD OF COPY IS READ. THE COMPARATIVE IS THE CATEGORY ARGUMENT: NOT YOUNGER HAIR. BETTER HAIR.
WHY IT HOLDS

It solves the segment problem. A niche inside a niche, affluent women over fifty, will not be moved by volume of message. It is moved by precision, and by being addressed as capable rather than as declining.

And it earns the campaign line. This is how it was always meant to be works on cognitive dissonance: the audience already holds a self image the mirror keeps contradicting. The product resolves the contradiction in her favour.

THE CAMPAIGN

The category's tiredest asset becomes the campaign's sharpest one.

Testimonials are the most used device in this category and the least believed. So we took the format and turned it into a manifesto. Real women, no set, no voiceover selling. Each holding a card that says the thing out loud, and the words on the card are the brand name.

THE APPLICATION

From there the system runs everywhere it has to.

The site rebuilt around education, transformation and results rather than a product list. A redesigned Amazon page moving the brand from one more bottle to the authority in pro-aging hair.

A point of sale unit carrying the naming system into the aisle, so the shelf argues the strategy with no one present. A packaging revamp. And The Better Years, a podcast hosted by the founder, because a brand that has taken a position on ageing should be able to hold an hour long conversation about it.
